We have grown as a country as a result from this near-total collapse of our economy. Through grit and determination, we were able to steer ourselves back on our path of greatness. It took many years and the creative genius of FDR and his administration, as well as World War II believe it or not, to fully recover. We have since fallen into a recession and are once again trying to get to pre-recession levels. Our country is definitely not perfect, but we are constantly learning about our failures and trying to improve upon them.
Many programs have been put in place so as to ensure that we do not commit the same mistakes twice. Banks won't fail by the thousands like they did in the 1930s, nor will the government hesitate to aid its people. Will there ever be another 'great' depression? It's hard to tell because of how quickly things can change nowadays. Will we be prepared for another depression? I think we are certainly more knowledgeable than we were prior to the Great Depression. Either way, America will continue to find solutions even in what seems to be the darkest hours.
