The roaring 20's as they're now known were roaring to say the least. Radical changes in government, prosperity, and an economic collapse towards the end of the decade make it one to remember. The 18th amendment was ratified. It banned alcohol. When that happened, the prohibition age started. Al Capone was a famous gang member during this time period. Along with him were Dutch Schultz, and Charles “Lucky” Luciano. The gangsters took advantage of the 18th amendment and started to sell alcohol on the black market. The prohibition age eventually led to modern-day stock car driving.
The 1920's showed that just as an economy can prosper, it can also collapse in the blink of an eye. It showed the weakness of our government at the time, and it proved to be a formidable force. At first we didn't know how to cope with it, but we eventually saw the light at the end of the tunnel. They were a learning experience, albeit a harsh one.
